In planning and cooking for my family, I aim to be as healthy, simple, and inexpensive as possible. However, as you know, those elements don’t always line up together. In this post a few weeks ago, I shared my attempt at making homemade chicken nuggets in order to serve healthy ingredients and still not spend a lot of money.
They really turned out great and weren’t too hard to make though it did take some time to cut up the chicken, coat the pieces, then bake. But, overall it has been a great option for a healthy quick meal. Then as I was visiting a friend recently for a play date and some catch-up time, I noticed her frozen chicken nuggets from Target and I instinctively picked up the package to read the label. I was pretty impressed with the all white meat chicken and none of those nasty ingredients and preservatives I had seen in other brands. I checked out the price and at around $4.30 for 29 oz, they really hit the target for healthy, simple, and inexpensive.
So, in light of this discovery, I am abandoning the homemade chicken nuggets in the name of simplicity and saving time and these will be making a more frequent appearance in my home.
